CVRAN Arts Marathon, Day Eight First layout, accordion design Construction planning, and some new ideas. I’m considering doing an accordion-fold layout, so attached is a pic of a mock-up. I'm being very careful this year to create full-mock-ups of the book, to avoid last year's confusion about the number of pages. If I use the yellow card stock for the pages, that will mean glueing hinges between every other sheet of paper, and the hinges will show. One idea is to draw squiggly illuminated manuscript designs on the hinges, to make them decorative. Attached are two pics of an illuminated manuscript page I drew many, many years ago. As I recall, it is copied from a postcard, probably bought at a Paris museum when I was working in France in the summer of 1969. It took a lot of patience to draw all those leaves. And it used to be bright with gold, and looked pretty snazzy. Alas, since I used inexpensive gold-colored paint, all that gold has turned brown. Odds that I will ever get ...
